Hey now! I know what you're thinking! "Hey, this loser is reviewing THIS piece of 80's MTV garbage first??? And not Fragile, or Close To The Edge, or Rough Diamonds???!!?!" Well, first of all, Confused Young Man, I would never review Rough Diamonds on this page becaue that's a very horrible Bad Company album. Secondly, this isn't the piece of 80s pop garbage you think it is. There are some cool songs on here. Jon Anderson is back after quitting in 1980, and not gracing us with his voice for one whole album! Steve Howe is gone, replaced by South African guitarist and future movie soundtrack baron Trevor Rabin, and Tony Kaye is back! Tony Kaye!? The same one that left so Rick Wakeman could replace him! Yeah, and Chris Squire and Alan White have stuck around. So looks like Yes is back together and feuling us with screeching 80s metal type guitars and all sorts of stupid fun MTV danceyness cool schtick, I don't know how to end this sentence, so am I right?! People!?! Can I get a WOOT WOOT!!!! WOOOOOOT WOOOOOOT!!!

I went in to the local record store (or whatever the kids call it these days, overpriced music shop? RIAA hellhouse?) planning on buying Yes' Fragile, and reviewing that. Unfortunately, they had just a Collector's edition or something, and it was a bit out of my price range, so I settled for the cheaper copy of 90125 instead. And here I am, writing a review for a somewhat decent 80s pop album instead of a superbly awesome and superior and every way 70s prog album.

This is 80s yes, so we don't get Steve Howe's wonderful screaming guitar, since he was on loan to Asia at the time. The guitar here is noticeable, (and unfortunately mostly 80s metal style), compared to their other prog to pop contemporary Genesis, who relied more on synth-based melodies (not that that's worse or anything, but given the choice between guitar and synth, I'll take the former...)

Anyway, on to the songs. We start with the megahit "Owner of A Lonely Heart", and I can't complain too much about it. Catchy, nice guitar, introduced Yes to the MTV generation (poor deprived kids!)... other radio hits existed on here too. "It Can Happen" and "Changes" are well done. Featuring powerful booming choruses and such. Good, driving stuff. "Leave It" is another favorite of mine. Near a-capella vocals... done surprisingly well. The rest of the stuff is pretty even. "Our Song" is a cute little pop rocker, with those cool little Baseball game-style organ riffs. "Cinema" is very, very energetic, albeit short, instrumental (It would have been nice if they dragged it out like Genesis' "Do The Neurotic" for about 5 or 6 or 7 minutes, and keep our blood boiling, at least).
